The fourth SELSI Multiplier Event

The fourth SELSI Multiplier Event shared many important ideas about making spoken language easier to understand.

It began with an opening by RTV Slovenija and Zavod Risa, followed by a panel on SELSI’s progress in Slovenia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, and Sweden.

Keynote speeches and presentations included research on Easy Language by Anna Matamala from Spain, its use in courts in Slovenia, and communication for adult protection by Simone Girard-Groeber from Switzerland.

Other talks covered Easy Language in mental health by Deborah Chinn and Katy Brickley, cognitive offloading by Irene Florean and colleagues, and human rights and inclusion by Sandra Marques from Portugal.

A round table led by Ulla Bohman discussed how language changes in society.

The event ended with closing remarks by Tatjana Knapp from Zavod Risa, emphasizing its value for accessibility and inclusion.

In addition to the main sessions, a poster section ran throughout the day. This showcased research and projects using Plain and Easy Language to improve communication and accessibility.
